Episode 7: She makes love just like a woman

Home / Love & Malice / Episode 7: She makes love just like a woman

Produced by Blue Trumpet for Radio 2RRR, Love & Malice explores 1960s attitudes to sex, love, and romance through the music of the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and Bob Dylan.

In this episode, James and Ray look at the Rolling Stones growing assurance in the aftermath of Aftermath and the release of Paint It Black, one of their seminal tunes. While their attitude to love is altogether darker than the Beatles, the Beatles themselves are going elsewhere, culminating in one of their most iconic tunes … Eleanor Rigby. We’re not in Kansas anymore. Bob chalks up another victory with Just Like a Woman, at first blush, a romantic sentiment. But really, like all things Bob, revealing his ambivalence. Not an embrace but another departure.
